The Honeywell Searchline Excel Cross Duct is a Hazardous Area certified infrared open path gas detector used in HVAC intakes, exhausts and turbine enclosures. Designed to protect ventilation ducts from gas ingress.
Hazardous area approvals include European (ATEX) and North American (UL). The receiver output is a three-wire 4-20mA selectable sink or source. Standard calibration is Methane (gas mixtures where Methane is the main constituent (>70%) and the balance is other hydrocarbons). Detection range 0-100% LEL.
There are two versions: Short Range for ducts 0.5m – 2.5m in width (ATEX and UL) and Long Range for ducts 2.5m – 5.0m in width (ATEX ONLY). The transmitter and receiver are amalgamated and supplied, complete with a reflector. Install a transceiver with a reflector positioned opposite. The transceiver measures the gas by the reflected beam signal.
A fast response, T90 < 1 second, provides an early warning. Alarm levels should be set no lower than 20% LEL for the short-range unit and 10% for the long-range unit. The Excel Cross Duct can be one component of a more extensive Honeywell Analytics gas detection system. Combined with XNX transmitters, a complete system can have a standard interface.
The Handheld Interrogator is a commissioning/maintenance tool certified for use in hazardous areas. The SHC protection device module must be used for direct connection to the Excel system. It is vital to ensure the suitability of an application for Excel Cross-Duct before ordering. Frequent maintenance is recommended to ensure system integrity, specifically cleaning the reflector tiles, re-zeroing and functional testing using the test filters. Installation needs to take place in a clean area without condensation. Contamination-resistant optics help reduce unscheduled maintenance.
