Drager Polytron 7000 Fixed Gas Detector

The Drager Polytron 7000 is a gas detector that can satisfy all toxic and oxygen gas measurement applications on a single platform. It meets the requirements of the compliance market and the high specification requirements of customised solutions.

Two components make up the Polytron 7000, allowing easy installation; initially, a docking station can be wired in. The Polytron transmitter then clips into the docking station, secured by a quick-lock mechanism. The transmitter itself and the docking station are ordered separately.

A large graphic display shows status information with the help of icons and plain text and guides the user through calibration and configuration.

The wide range of outputs, 4 to 20 mA, HART, LON, PROFIBUS or FOUNDATION Fieldbus, enables the Polytron 7000 on either a control system from the Drager Regard family or third party control systems. The modular design allows for the subsequent retrofit onto any mentioned interfaces.

With the Polytron 7000 remote sensor adaptor and lead, it is possible to mount the sensor up to 30 metres from the Polytron 7000 transmitter. This enables the user to read and operate the transmitter from a safe area or detect toxic gases and oxygen levels in difficult to reach places while still viewing and configuring the Polytron 7000 conveniently. A duct mount kit enables the remote sensor to be mounted directly in elevated pipework.

A relay module can be supplied with two gas alarm relays and one fault alarm relay; the transmitter can either be used as a stand-alone gas detector with no need for a controller, or alarm devices can be activated locally, saving costs in cabling to and from a controller. The analogue signal can still be transmitted back to a controller if desired. (Not suitable for use in hazardous areas)

Sensors are available for over 100 different gases, designed for 24 hours, 365 days per year operation. The large size gives them their renowned long life. The built-in sensor data memory containing all the relevant gas and calibration information, onboard temperature and pressure compensation provides the sensor with its unsurpassed measurement performance. This also allows the Polytron 7000 to accept pre-calibrated sensors, a virtually maintenance-free transmitter with minimal operator intervention.

With the sensor test dongle, the Polytron 7000 performs many different patented sensor tests that ensure the reliability and functionality of the sensor and gas detection system. With three other software dongles, a range of functions is incorporated into the transmitter, adjusting it to the user or application-specific requirements.

With the new sensor diagnosis function (including the sensor test), operational demands and the remaining sensor lifetime are estimated to create maintenance and exchange schedules. A data and event saving option is integrated into the data dongle. This saves the measured values and events such as alarms and warnings.

The data can be downloaded onto a PDA m515-Ex via an IR interface and evaluated on a PC with the Drager GasVision software. A 15-minute concentration history is shown on the transmitter display at the push of a button.

The inclusion of a pump module enables the Polytron 7000 to draw gas samples from difficult to reach areas; the gas sample is then passed across the sensor for detection. Like all accessories in the Polytron 7000 range, the pump unit is modular and can be retrofitted into existing transmitters. (Not suitable for use in hazardous areas).
