The Drager Polytron 2 XP EX is no longer available. Equivalent models are the Polytron 8200 or Polytron 8310 IR.

A combustible fixed gas detector for the ambient air. Two flammable sensor choices were available: a highly sensitive catalytic bead sensor, providing a fast response time, or a poison-resistant infrared sensor. The IR sensor had a longer lifespan and was chosen for areas where other gases might be present that could damage a catalytic bead sensor.

A lone operator could set up the Polytron 2 XP EX using the infrared remote control without making the area safe. Menu access was also possible using a portable Hart device or the transmitter buttons.

Model choice depended on the approvals required and whether the relay option was chosen. The relay option provided two alarm settings and one fault, enabling communication with warning instruments on site, offering a standalone system, and eliminating the need for a central controller.
